SpellBound is one of the cool tools I use with Firefox. It is a browser extension that lets you check spelling within form input fields and textareas before you submit them. In fact, I used it to check the spelling of this blog entry. SpellBound also exposes a spell checking API that other extensions such as Pearl Comments use. Robert Strong started the SpellBound project more than 18 months ago.

One of the new features Robert is adding to the next version is “spell check as you type.” (I hope he doesn’t mind me leaking this news.) He has a few other features planned as well. I expect to see the next version of SpellBound before the end of 2005 (probably when Firefox 1.5 is released).

Eventually, SpellBound will be available at addons.mozilla.org but for now you can download SpellBound from here.
